La Tarais – group accommodation to rent in Brittany. The perfect solution for groups or family reunions
The main house at La Tarais is a 16th century “longere” in a countryside setting. Large gardens provide plenty of room for children to play safely and to enjoy the swimming pool. The house has 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining room.

The Dining Room
The dining room is south facing with oak tables, beamed ceilings and a large fireplace with wood burner for adding a bit of cheer during the winter months.
This room forms the ‘heart’ of the house. There is a CD, Tape and Radio in the Dining Room
The dining room door leads out to the garden and large terraced area with a 8 metre long pergola, tables and chairs for ‘alfresco’ dinners on those long summer nights.
The Kitchen
Leading off the dining room, the fitted oak kitchen is charming. ;You can feel secure that the kitchen 20sq.m (215sq.ft) is sufficiently equipped to deal with large groups. You have at your disposal a dishwasher, freezer, fridge, oven/grill/hob, microwave, food processor, toaster, kettle, cafettieres and plenty of pots and pans of all sizes.
The Sitting Room
The sitting room is on the groud floor . A cosy room comfortable sofas and easy chairs it is a great TV room (with English & French channels, video and dvd player). There is also lots of reading material and views over the garden. Perfect for those quiet moments.
7 Bedrooms and 6 Bathrooms (see floor plans below for bed layouts)
All the bedrooms have double beds. Three rooms have queen size beds.
All bedrooms measure over 12 sq meters.
On the top floor of the house there are two rooms (one with a double bed and one single bed and the other with a double and two single beds). These two rooms share a bathroom.
Both rooms have beautiful 400 year old exposed beamed ceilings. There is a hall and bathroom between these two rooms.
The bathrooms are all equipped with modern spacious showers, wc’s and wash hand basins. One bathroom has a bath.
Older or less able bodied members of the group may appreciate one of the two ground floor bedrooms.

Finding La Tarais for my group visit to Brittany was amazing luck! Twelve of us arrived off the St Malo ferry for the short drive to Dinan, and a warm welcome to a blazing fire and cosy beds waiting for us. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful spot, surrounded by lush countryside, river walks and a fabulous dining room to conduct our book club discussions in. For the adventurous amongst us, the historic medieval town of Dinan offers a brilliant market, cafes, shopping, and lovely walks and views from the city walls. The highlight of our stay was delicious dinners and lively evenings round the wood burner, which we all agreed produced some great discussions during our restful week at La Tarais.
We had a wonderful stay at La Tarais Cottage in April 2012. The facilites were excellent and the children had a great time playing in the gardens and even had a dip in the pool! Both Debs and Bernard were happy to answer any questions we had and were great hosts.
The amenities in the area are fantastic and it is very easy to plan day trips – major link roads are about 5 km from the nearest town Dinan, with Mont St Michel only 45 mins away.
We are very happy to recommend La Tarais for a restful holiday!
