The main house (14 persons) at La Tarais is a 16th century “longere” in a countryside setting. Large gardens provide plenty of room for children to play safely and to enjoy the swimming pool. The house has 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining room. For larger groups wishing to rent more than the big house please visit our group accommodation page for more information. The Dining Room The dining room is south facing with  oak tables, beamed ceilings and a large fireplace with wood burner for adding a bit of cheer during the winter months. This room forms the ‘heart’ of the house. the Dining Room has 4 tables which can be 1 or 2 long tables to fit up to 20 people.
The dining room door leads out to the garden and large terraced area with a 8 metre long pergola, tables and chairs for ‘alfresco’ dinners on those long summer nights. The Kitchen Leading off the dining room, the fitted oak kitchen is charming. ;You can feel secure that the kitchen 20sq.m (215sq.ft) is sufficiently equipped to deal with large groups. Hello,

Thank you for coming to stay at La Tarais.

Please feel free to add any helpful comments to this page that you think might be useful to us or future guests.

I hope you have a great holiday with your friends and family,

    Debbie.

  2. Finding La Tarais for my group visit to Brittany was amazing luck! Twelve of us arrived off the St Malo ferry for the short drive to Dinan, and a warm welcome to a blazing fire and cosy beds waiting for us. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful spot, surrounded by lush countryside, river walks and a fabulous dining room to conduct our book club discussions in. For the adventurous amongst us, the historic medieval town of Dinan offers a brilliant market, cafes, shopping, and lovely walks and views from the city walls. The highlight of our stay was delicious dinners and lively evenings round the wood burner, which we all agreed produced some great discussions during our restful week at La Tarais.

We had a wonderful stay at La Tarais Cottage in April 2012. The facilites were excellent and the children had a great time playing in the gardens and even had a dip in the pool! Both Debs and Bernard were happy to answer any questions we had and were great hosts.

The amenities in the area are fantastic and it is very easy to plan day trips – major link roads are about 5 km from the nearest town Dinan, with Mont St Michel only 45 mins away.

We are very happy to recommend La Tarais for a restful holiday!

  4. Debbie says:

Thanks for your comments. It was also lovely to have children back enjoying the gardens again after the long winter. Good luck with the new arrival in the summer let me know when he/she arrives.

Many thanks for the great accommodation we enjoyed for 8 nights last week at Tarais House. The facilities were perfect and our large group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Your help was appreciated throughout and i can recommend your accomoodation to families and large groups without any hesitation. It isnt easy trying to take away as many young people as we did but the house and large grounds make the running a lot easier.

Best of luck for the future

    regards

We all had a very enjoyable stay at La Tarais gite last week. The location was very good . We loved Dinan especially. The house was spacious and well appointed on the whole and had masses of character.and we enjoyed the local walks along the river. Our teenagers loved the pool their only comment being that it would have been nice if it was a bit warmer. The only two small comments we could make if it helps is that we would have liked a wardrobe or some hanging space in our bedroom and also a much larger barbeque. My husband managed to cook for ten of us on it but it was a struggle and took him about two hours. On the whole though, really lovely and we appreciated having you both on hand to have a chat and answer any queries. We went to the restaurant that you recommended ( La Mere Pourcel) and it was wonderful, so thank you for that too.
